Oh My Daddy
[tune: "Clementine"]

Oh, my daddy; oh, my daddy,

Oh, my very special dad,

I want to thank you very much

For being my special dad!

My Special Friend
[Tune: Bingo]

I have a very special friend

and Daddy is his name-o.

D-A-D-D-Y, D-A-D-D-Y, D-A-D-D-Y,

and Daddy is his name-o.

My Special Friend
[Tune: Yankee Doodle]

Daddy is my special friend,

The two of us are buddies.

I always like the things we do,

I'm thankful for my daddy!

Thank You, Dad
[tune: "Jingle Bells"]

Thank You, Dad

Thank You, Dad

Thanks for loving me.

Hugs and kisses, hugs and kisses,

Comes to you from me.

Daddy Handprint Poem

Here are my handprints
so tiny and small
The ones that clasped your hands Daddy
The ones on the wall.

Press them in your memories Daddy,
Press them in your heart
Never let go of me Daddy,
Never let us part.

Right now they're good for touching
and crawling on the floors
Hold them tightly in your hands Daddy
They fit so perfectly in yours.

Soon I'll be big like you,
Our hands will be the same
But you will always be my Daddy,
And I will always proudly carry your name.
Daddy's Footprints

"Walk a little slower, Daddy,"
said a little child so small.
"I'm following in your footsteps,
and I don't want to fall.

Sometimes your steps are very fast,
Sometimes they're hard to see;
So walk a little slower, Daddy,
For you are leading me.

Someday when I'm all grown up;
You're what I want to be;
Then I will have a little child
Who'll want to follow me.

And I would want to lead just right,
And know that I was true;
So, walk a little slower, Daddy,
For I must follow you."

Father's Day Booklet

Make a fill-in-the-blank booklet for dad with each child's unique (and sometimes humorous) answers.

My Dad
My dad's name is _________.
He is _____ years old.
He likes to eat ____________.
His favorite sport is __________.
My dad spends most of his time _______________.
When we are together I like to ________________.
My dad is the best dad in the world because ___________.

Puzzle Piece Picture Frame

Use large popsicle sticks to frame the picture. Write on the frame: "I Love You To Pieces." Then use spray-painted jigsaw puzzle pieces to decorate the frame.

Grown Up Pictures

Bring in a black man's hat, white shirt, and tie and dress up each child like a father. Have the child sit at a small table pretending to eat breakfast. Place a folded newspaper in one hand like they were reading it and a coffee mug in the other. Bring a phone to sit on the table. Mount picture on Father's Day wrapping paper and laminate.

Fisherman Pictures

Dress children in fishing hat and vest and have them hold a fishing rod. Have the end of the rod catching a fish that says, "Dad, you're a great catch!" You can make another fish that omits the dad for children of absent fathers. Decorate a popsicle stick frame with ocean or nature items.

Cute as a Button Picture Frames

Take pictures of the children and add them to craft stick or poster board frames. Add different types of buttons around the edges.

Nuts About Dad!

To make a card, cut out a peanut shape from brown paper. Label it - "I'm Nut's About You!" Glue on a peanut shell. Next fill a brown paper lunch bag with unshelled peanuts. Fold down the top of the bag; then punch two holes through the layers. Tie raffia through the holes; then staple the card to the bag. [Idea by: Gayle Vergara - Willowbend Preschool]

Dad - The Nuts and Bolts of the Family

Make a craft stick picture frame and decorate with little nuts and bolts. Add a picture of the child. Add a tag that says - "You're the nuts and bolts of our family."

Stress Reliever Ball

Fill a thick balloon with dry flour using a funnel. Tie tightly with a ribbon and secure with a knot. Attach the following note to the ball using a ribbon.

This little balloon of flour
has amazing little power.
When not feeling your very best,
massage it to relieve your stress.

Pencil Holder

Paint popsicle sticks two or three different colors. When the sticks dry, glue them to a tomato sauce.

Father's Day Snack Mix

Put everything in bowls on a table and give the kids a large cup to spoon things into. They can choose a little of everything and more of something their Dad particularly likes. When the cup is full, we dump the contents into their bag and staple it shut.

Raisins 'cause you're raisin' me.
Goldfish 'cause you are the BIG fish in the sea.
Cheezits 'cause you're the BIG cheese.
Pretzels 'cause you guide me in all life's twists and turns.
Chocolate Chips 'cause I'm the chip off the old block!
Chex 'cause you are always chexin' up on me.
Froot Loops for all our loopy times together.
Peanuts because I'm your little peanut.
Teddy Grahams for all the bear hugs you give me.
Popcorn 'cause you are my POP!
Kisses ... because I Love You!
