Our 100 Song

Hi Ho, Hi Ho
One hundred days ago
We came to school
And we're so cool
Hi Ho, Hi Ho
100th Day Song
[tune: Yankee Doodle]
We've been in school 100 days
Through every kind of weather
And now it's time to celebrate -
We'll sing this song together.
100 days! "Hip-hip-hoo-ray!"
It sure seemed like forever.
We'll celebrate 100 days
And we'll be friends forever.
100th Day Song
[tune: "I've Been Working on the Railroad"]

We've been working in our classroom
For 100 days
We've been working in our classroom
here in Room 125
Rising early in the morning.
Bring our books and pencils, too.
Every day we come to Wheeless Road,
We learn something new!

100th day is here . Come on - give a cheer!
100th day is here. Hooray, hooray!
100th day has come. Come on - join the fun!
100th day is here. Hooray!
100 Is a Lot!
- by Meish Goldish

100 dogs, 100 cats
100 heads for 100 hats
100 women, 100 men
100's more than 5 or 10.
100 buttons, 100 coats,
100 sails for 100 boats.
100 cookies, 100 cakes,
100 kids with bellyaches!
100 shoes, 100 socks
100 keys for 100 locks.
100 puddles mighty dirty,
100's even more than 30.
100 daughters, 100 sons,
100 franks on buns.
100 trees, 100 plants,
100 picnics, 100 ants!
100 is a lot to count,
100 is a LARGE AMOUNT!
100 kisses, 100 hugs,
100 bats and 100 bugs.
100 bees, 100 birds,
This poem has 100 words!

100 Days

The 100th day is really great!!

Art:
Happy Hundreds Hat :

Wear the hat to celebrate the 100th day of school!
[Pattern from: Teacher's Helper, Feb/Mar 2001 ]

100th Day Glasses Pattern :

Color and cut out the glasses and strips. Glue the strips to the glasses. Fit strips to head and glue closed.
[Source: Creative Teaching Press Theme Series - Numbers]

100th Day Necklace :

This was given to us in the 100th Day Exchange by Mrs. Shamrock's class in Pasadena, Texas. Thanks!

Use 100-day necklace pattern with "ten tags" on them. Use colored beads or cereal. Put the number tags followed by 10 cereal pieces or beads on a yarn string. Use "Zero The Hero" to cover the knot after you tie it.

Make an art design - encourage creativity! using 100 toothpicks glued onto construction paper.

100 Day Mobiles

Send home a clothes hanger with ten strings. On those ten strings have them hang, add, glue, etc. ten objects. Hang the hangers around the room. (Chris, KinderKorner, submitted this idea.)

100 Item Cutout :

Decorate a "100 cutout" with 100 items.
[Idea from Evelyn - kkincl@evl.net]

Reading:
Ready To Celebrate worksheet:

Read Read Miss Bindergarten Celebrates the 100th Day of Kindergarten by Joseph Slate to the class. Have children recall the 100-day items that Miss Bindergarten made.
[ Teachers Helper, Feb/Mar 2001 ]

Learn to say 100 in Spanish. (Cien)

Schoolmates listening activity (worksheet):
This activity is based on the book Miss Bindergarten Celebrates the 100th Day of Kindergarten. Read the following directions to the class. Have your children listen to the directions and follow them.

100 things for the Chicken:

Read The Wolf's Chicken Stew by Keiko Kasza. List the food the wolf took to the chicken. Be sure to not that he took 100 donuts, a 100 lb. cake, and 100 pancakes. Brainstorm with children other items the wolf might take now that he has all those little chicks that love him! Have students draw a picture of the wolf delivering 100 of one of the new items and write a sentence about the picture.

Math:
Ready To Celebrate worksheet - counting/writing to 100

Teacher's Helper Feb/Mar 2001 has a grid that allows children to trace and write each numeral from 1 to 100. It is also programmed with graphics of characters from the story Miss Bindergarten Celebrates the 100th Day of Kindergarten.

Resources from www.atozteacherstuff.com
1. I can write to 100 number grid. (blank)
2. I can write to 100 number grid. (Increments of 5)
3. I can write to 100 number grid. (Increments of 10)

100 Chart - Grid with numbers 1-100.

Suggestions for using the grid - How many numbers have zero at the end? Circle all the zero digits. How many one-digit numbers? How many two-digit numbers? How many three-digit numbers?

I can count to 100 certificates. (Carson Dellosa has a cute one!)

Choo Choo 100:

In this activity, children use unifix cubes (or linking cubes -Saxon Math) to make ten-cube trains. Next link the ten-cube trains together to make a choo choo 100 - a train 100 cubes long. This activity creates a visid concrete model of the number 100. Can be modeled and then added to a Math center for practice. [ Connections, Grade 1, Creative Publications, 1989 ]

100 Day Snack!

Snack items include (but could be modified to meet your needs): raisins, m&m's, cheerios, miniature marshmallows, popcorn, cheez-its, miniature pretzels, chocolate chips, gummy bears, and skittles.

Children should count 10 each of the snack items into 10 counting cups. (I use dixie bathroom cups)

Children should empty the counting cups into a ziplock bag so that they can visualize the 100 items.

100th Day Money Magic Trick

Do this in a large group. Before you do this trick, prepare a box with a hole in the top. (If you have a mystery box, use this!) Hide a dollar bill in the box before-hand. With the children, count 100 pennies into the mystery box. Have them clap on the 10's. Say the magic words and pull out a dollar bill!

Pop 100 kernels of popcorn . Before popping it, graph whether 100 kernels will be too little, too much, or just right for the whole group to eat.

Using an enlarged 100's Grid, make a 100's Graph of 100 animals, foods, words, stickers, etc.

Predict which jar has 100 items.
Have 3 jars with various sized items inside. One of the jars should have exactly 100 pieces inside. Have children guess which jar they think has the 100 items inside. Make a little handout for the child to "write" his prediction on.

Writing:
If someone gave me $100.00 I would _____________. Copy a hundred dollar bill onto a sheet of paper and have children complete the sentence at the bottom and draw a picture showing what they would do with the money!

Social Studies:
100 Items for Charity

Aim to collect 100 cans of food, socks, or other specific goods to donate to the needy.

Bring in pictures of people over 100 years old

Draw a picture of what you think you might look like when you are 100 years old. What will you be doing then? What will the world be like in 100 years?

Miscellaneous:
100 Day Collections.

I enjoy using the 100 day collection letter found in Teacher's Helper, Nov/Dec/Jan 1996-97 to send home as a homework assignment. The letter has a teddy bear with arms open wide. You staple a ziplock baggie onto the bears arms. The letter to parents explains how each child should add 100 of some item to the baggie to share as his/her 100 collection.

Color the number 100 design worksheet. Color each item within the number 100 by using the special "key" at the bottom of the page. This worksheet was designed to be used with the book The Wolf's Chicken Stew . [Teacher Created Materials, Connecting Math and Literature]

100% Delicous Snack

You will need: 1 small paper plate, 1 rectangular cracker, 2 round crackers, a can of cheese spread.

On the plate, form the numeral 100 using the crackers. "Write" the corresponding numeral on each cracker using the cheese. Enjoy your snack!

100 Club Member Badges

Take 100 steps . Predict how far we will get, where will we be?

________celebrated the 100th Day of School today certificates
[Creative Teaching Press, Theme Series - 100 ]

Use Pigs in Hiding by Dubanovich and hide 100 little paper pigs around the room for a pig hunt. Graph the little pictures on a 100's grid to keep up with how many are missing. (100 days for 7 intelligences)

Use child's school picture in place of the picture on a 100 dollar bill. Cute!

Make a large wolf picture to represent the wolf in The Wolf's Chicken Stew. Make 100 little pom-pom chicks to add around the wolf to create a cute 100 bulletin board.
